Another week has come and gone, and it is time to look ahead to the upcoming fantasy baseball matchups. I will be here every week this season to give you suggestions on which pitchers you should stream to win your matchups.
I will be using the FantasyPros streaming pitchers rankings to help determine my picks. Feel free to sync your league and take a look at your own to find high-potential starters available on your waivers.

Fantasy Baseball Streaming Pitchers: Waiver Wire Targets (Week 12)
Also, please keep in mind that starters can get off schedule, and some projected starters can be pushed back due to circumstances such as injury and weather.
First, let’s take a look at last week’s picks:
- Walker Buehler (vs. CIN): 4.2 Innings, 4 Strikeouts, 1 Earned Run, 8 Hits, 2 Walks (No Decision)
- JT Ginn (vs. MIL): 5.2 Innings, 5 Strikeouts, 5 Earned Runs, 5 Hits, 3 Walks (Win)
- Ryne Nelson (@MIA): 4.0 Innings, 2 Strikeouts, 7 Earned Runs, 8 Hits, 1 Walk (Loss)
- Christian Scott (vs. STL): 4.2 Innings, 6 Strikeouts, 4 Earned Runs, 7 Hits, 1 Walk (No Decision)
- Jack Leiter (@BOS): 5.0 Innings, 3 Strikeouts, 5 Earned Runs, 8 Hits, 2 Walks (Loss)
- Gage Jump (vs. COL): 5.0 Innings, 6 Strikeouts, 3 Earned Runs, 5 Hits, 1 Walk (No Decision)
- Grant Holmes (@NYM): Pushed back
Total: 29.0 Innings, 26 Strikeouts, 25 Earned Runs, 41 Hits, 10 Walks (1-2)
Well. These matchups were certainly a downgrade from the amazing streams we chose the week before. Gage Jump was the lone bright patch of a bleak week, and his start was far from phenomenal. Last week did not offer much to choose from, and we can do much better. I’m aiming for better streams this upcoming week.
Week 12 Streaming Targets
Monday, June 15
Troy Melton (SP — DET) @HOU | 20% Rostered
Troy Melton is an exciting young pitcher. The 25-year-old has done an excellent job pitching to contact this season, allowing eight runs across 25.2 innings so far. He has struck out only 14 batters and walked only six in this span.
The righty is yet to possess elite strikeouts. He has a well-rounded arsenal, including a mid-90s fastball and a curveball with great horizontal break, but he has an extraordinarily low 6.3 K/9 ratio in a small sample size in the majors. Melton has a 10.3 K/9 ratio in the minors, and I expect some more strikeouts to come as Melton settles in.
Melton’s lack of strikeouts has traded off into the ability to go deep into games. Melton has thrown seven innings or more in two out of his four starts, including an eight-inning, two-run performance against the Rays.
The Astros have one of the better offenses in baseball, with the 10th-ranked team OPS of .729. However, Melton is yet to give managers a reason not to trust him, and he is a solid option for Monday.
- Alternative: JT Ginn (SP — ATH) vs. PIT | 23% Rostered
Tuesday, June 16
Edward Cabrera (SP — CHC) vs. COL | 30% Rostered
Needless to say, Edward Cabrera has had quite the fall from grace to be considered a streamer. If Cabrera is available in your league, I love him against the Rockies.
Cabrera is coming off a decent start on June 11, where he held the Rockies to two runs across 5.1 innings, striking out five and allowing two homers. I think Cabrera will do even better facing the Rockies away from the conditions of Colorado, especially considering that his damage came from high-altitude home runs.
Yes, the 28-year-old has struggled this season. No, he is not going to be your everyday starter. But I trust the righty against the 27-45 Rockies, whom he just had success against.
- Alternative: Merrill Kelly (SP — ARI) vs. LAA | 25% Rostered
Wednesday, June 17
Sam Aldegheri (SP — LAA) @ARI | 1% Rostered
I have to admit, Wednesday is a day without many good options. Sam Aldegheri is a decent option for deep leagues.
In case you are unfamiliar with the Italian-born prospect, Aldegheri is in his third season for the Angels after limited usage. The 24-year-old lefty primarily throws a low-90s fastball alongside a deadly changeup with a 40 percent whiff rate. He also mixes in a cutter, curveball, and slider.
Aldegheri has allowed four runs across 17.0 innings so far this season. He is being worked into the Angels’ rotation after Jack Kochanowicz underwent Tommy John surgery.
The Italian is a brave stream against the Diamondbacks, who have the fifth-lowest team OPS in baseball (.691).
- Alternative: Javier Assad (SP — CHC) vs. COL | 2% Rostered
Thursday, June 18
Gage Jump (SP — ATH) vs. LAA | 18% Rostered
What’s not to love about Gage Jump? He has made a few of my streaming lists so far, and he will continue to do so until he becomes more rostered.
The 23-year-old flame-throwing lefty is coming off a start where he allowed three runs to the Rockies in five innings, striking out six. His start was good but not great. He was in a great position until he came out for the sixth inning and allowed the bases to be loaded with no outs. He was pulled, and (of course) the Athletics bullpen allowed all three runners to score. Jump got unlucky, and I expect him to bounce back.
Expect Jump to earn great strikeouts against the Angels, who lead baseball with 681.
- Alternative: Martin Perez (SP — ATL) vs. SFG | 13% Rostered
Friday, June 19
Bubba Chandler (SP — PIT) @COL | 25% Rostered
Before you laugh, I know how this sounds. Bubba Chandler has been rough this season. The flame-thrower has allowed the second-most walks among pitchers and has suffered an overall lack of control. That is, until his last couple of games.
Chandler has looked better in his last two outings against the Marlins and Athletics. Combined, he threw 11 innings, walking three batters, allowing four runs, and striking out 13. The 23-year-old righty may finally be getting the hang of things.
Chandler is, of course, known for great strikeout potential. His fastball regularly reaches 100mph, and his changeup, slider, sinker, sweeper, and curveball are all solid whiff pitches. Chandler, with proper control of his arsenal, is more than a streamer. For now, consider streaming Chandler against the Rockies, even if it is at the homer-friendly Coors Field.
- Alternative: Griffin Jax (SP — TB) vs. WSH | 33% Rostered
Saturday, June 20
Keider Montero (SP — DET) vs. CWS | 6% Rostered
Keider Montero is quietly having a nice season. He has stepped up his game, allowing a 3.61 ERA (3.66 xERA) across 72.1 innings. Although Montero has an ugly 6.0 K/9 ratio this season, all of his other ratios have been excellent.
Montero is the high-floor, low-ceiling stream of the week. Choose the 25-year-old to preserve your ratios for the week, or get a solid amount of points. Montero has a career 2.60 ERA in 4 appearances versus the White Sox. Look for him to continue his good numbers this week.
- Alternative: JT Ginn (SP — ATH) vs. LAA | 27% Rostered
Sunday, June 21
Dustin May (SP — STL) @KC | 21% Rostered
Don’t look now, but Dustin May has an ERA of 3.43 since May 1. His season ERA has been reduced to 4.21. The veteran has 44 strikeouts in 42.0 innings during this stretch. We may be witnessing an unbelievable comeback.
The best part is, advanced metrics support May’s somewhat resurgency. The righty has a 3.66 xERA, and many of his pitches (including his curveball, sweeper, and sinker) have very above-average movement.
The oft-injured 28-year-old appears to be settling in nicely for the Cardinals. Take his hot streak against the Royals, who have a team OPS of .694, the sixth-worst in baseball.
- Alternative: Ryne Nelson (SP — ARI) vs. MIN | 10% Rostered
