Joc Pederson (1B,LF,RF - LAD)
Wed, Feb 5
Player Note on Joc Pederson (1B,LF,RF - LAD)
Pederson, recently traded 32 miles north to the Angels, joins Mike Trout, Shohei Ohtani, Justin Upton, and Andrelton Simmons in a strong LAA lineup. He should split time in the outfield and at DH, with an occasional appearance at first base and should see a good amount of time in the lineup.
Alex Verdugo (LF,CF,RF - BOS)
Wed, Feb 5
Player Note on Alex Verdugo (LF,CF,RF - BOS)
The newly acquired outfielder should find time in Boston's lineup, given the loss of Betts. He should join Andrew Benintendi and Jackie Bradley Jr. in the outfield and will find himself in the lineup regularly. He is young and with a lot of upside, but there are big shoes to fill in Boston. With JD Martinez and Jose Peraza as the only two options in the outfield, Verdugo should become a large part of Boston's lineup right away.
Xander Bogaerts (SS - BOS)
Wed, Feb 5
Player Note on Xander Bogaerts (SS - BOS)
A true dark horse MVP candidate last season, Bogaerts solidified a spot as one of the best offensive shortstops in baseball. He was an extra-base-hit machine this past season with over 30 home runs and over 50 doubles. He has always been able to hit for average, but Bogaerts to a big step forward in 2019 by slugging .557, ahead of players such as Trevor Story, Juan Soto, Freddie Freeman, and former teammate Mookie Betts.
J.D. Martinez (LF,RF,DH - BOS)
Wed, Feb 5
Player Note on J.D. Martinez (LF,RF,DH - BOS)
Martinez is almost a sure bet for a .300 average with 35+ home runs and 100+ RBIs. Along with Rafael Devers and Xander Bogaerts in a very strong lineup, he should have plenty of opportunities to score and drive in runs in his third season in Boston.
Francisco Lindor (SS - CLE)
Wed, Feb 5
Player Note on Francisco Lindor (SS - CLE)
Will he be in Cleveland? Who knows? Regardless of where he is playing, Lindor is a top tier fantasy player who can contribute 30+ HRs and 20+ SBs to anchor your lineup.
Nolan Arenado (3B - COL)
Wed, Feb 5
Player Note on Nolan Arenado (3B - COL)
One word. Consistency. I look for consistency with my first pick and Arenado is the model for consistency in fantasy baseball. You can count on him for 35-40 HRs, over 100 RBIs, a .300 average, and 150+ games. Whether or not he is in Colorado to start the season, Arenado is a first round pick and a good player to build your team around.
Walker Buehler (SP - LAD)
Wed, Feb 5
Player Note on Walker Buehler (SP - LAD)
The most impressive part of Buehler's 2019 season were his clutch performances and he has the poise of an ace. Buehler's strikeout rates are comparable to those of Stephen Strasburg and he has posted two consecutive sub 1.05 WHIP seasons. His fastball is one of the fastest in the league, much like his climb to the top of fantasy rankings. Add that to a lineup with Betts, Bellinger, Muncy, Turner, Lux, Seager, etc. and Buehler should have a good chance to win 20+ games.
Mookie Betts (CF,RF - LAD)
Wed, Feb 5
Player Note on Mookie Betts (CF,RF - LAD)
Betts, the newest member of the Los Angeles Dodgers, is one of the best players in the MLB, that has not changed. What has changed is that he is going to be hitting in a lineup with NL MVP Cody Bellinger and a plethora of other big hitters. In the deepest lineup in the MLB, Betts should have no problem driving in runs, scoring runs, and continuing to show why he is one of the best in the game.
Cody Bellinger (1B,CF,RF - LAD)
Wed, Feb 5
Player Note on Cody Bellinger (1B,CF,RF - LAD)
One of the more interesting fantasy players because of his dual 1B and OF eligibility, Bellinger silenced any doubters with his 2019 MVP season and should benefit from the acquisition of Mookie Betts.
Tyler Glasnow (SP,RP - TB)
Fri, Jan 31
Player Note on Tyler Glasnow (SP,RP - TB)
Glasnow was a legitimate Cy Young candidate prior to his injury. With nasty stuff and a solid bullpen supporting him, I fully expect Glasnow to return to form, maybe not as the best pitcher in the American League, but as one of the best fantasy pitchers out there and a steal as potentially your third or fourth starter.
