Alex Avila re-signs with Tigers

Veteran catcher and free agent Alex Avila has re-signed with the Detroit Tigers. According to sources, it's a one-year deal worth $2 million. (www.mlb.com)
Fantasy Impact:
Avila was drafted by the Tigers in 2008 and played his first seven major league seasons in Detroit before signing as a free-agent with the White Sox last season. Avila will serve as the primary backup to starter James McCann after hitting just .213 with seven home runs and 11 RBI in 57 games for the Chicago last year.
