Tyson Ross takes a trip to Arlington

Free agent pitcher Tyson Ross was in Arlington on Wednesday visiting with officials of the Texas Rangers. The Rangers are keenly interested, according to sources, in signing Ross despite the fact that he made only one start last season and probably won't be ready for Opening Day. (www.mlb.com)
Fantasy Impact:
Ross was a solid starter for the Padres from 2013-15, posting a 26-34 record in 80 starts. The record is deceiving, however, as the Padres offense provided little run support for the right hander. Ross had a cumulative 3.07 ERA in those three seasons, and limited opponents to a .234 batting average. His strikeout rate was about one per inning (9.2) and while his walk rate is a tad high (3.5/9 innings), it's certainly no worse than what the back-end of the Rangers rotation has produced over the past few years.
