Dillon Gee goes 3 1/3 against Indians Saturday

by Steve Painter | Sat, Mar 18th 11:43pm EDT

Dillon Gee, in contention for a role in the Rangers' starting rotation, pitched 3 1/3 innings Saturday against the Indians. The stat line here looks much worse than it really was. But he allowed six hits and three runs (two earned) while walking two and striking out two. He held the Indians scoreless the first three innings and then things fell apart in the fourth. There was an error, etc. at a crucial moment which would have limited the damage to one run had it not occurred. Gee has appeared in four spring games and carries a 2.61 ERA along with a 1.65 WHIP.

Fantasy Impact:

Gee, Mike Hauschild, and A.J. Griffin lead the pack of several who are vying for the two spots in the rotation that are open because of injuries to Tyson Ross and Andrew Cashner. Cashner is not slated to miss much time and in fact, could conceivably be ready to go when his turn in the rotation comes up. Reports are that Ross won't be ready until May at the earliest. Gee himself holds little fantasy value at this time.
