Allen Cordoba hits first triple of the season in loss Wednesday
by Joshua Wattay | Thu, May 18th 11:01am EDT
Allen Cordoba went 2-for-4 at the plate with one triple, one single, one strikeout and one stolen-base during Wednesday's 3-1 defeat to the Milwaukee Brewers.
Fantasy Impact:
Cordoba's first career major league triple came in the bottom of the fifth inning. With two outs and the bases empty, Matt Garza delivered a 91 mile-per-hour fastball that Cordoba lined to the left-center-field wall. The 21-year-old Panama native is very volatile at the plate after making his major league debut on April 3rd, 2017. While not a recommended fantasy option, Cordoba shows very impressive speed and game IQ. He currently holds a .278 batting-average with a .339 on-base-percentage and a .481 slugging-percentage through 54 at-bats this season. This is a player to keep tabs on as he may become a steal from waivers as early as June or July.
