Johnny Field picks up three hits in Thursday's win

by Matt Wiswell | Fri, May 18th 12:36pm EDT

Johnny Field went 3-for-4 with a two-run home run, two singles, two runs, and struck out once in Thursday's 7-1 win over the Angels. The home run was Field's third on the year, and he now has 11 runs scored and six RBI. Field bumped his average up to .302 through 53 at-bats.

Fantasy Impact:

Thursday was one of Field's best games so far as a pro. That being said, there's a bit of a small sample size warning in effect here as he does only have 53 at-bats so far this season. Additionally, Field will see less time once Carlos Gomez (groin) returns from the DL, and will likely return to the minor leagues once Kevin Kiermaier (hand) makes his comeback. Field is showing that he can be a regular starter for the Rays in the future, but it just isn't quite his time yet. Field could see regular time later in the year if the Rays are sellers at the trade deadline and decide to ship out veterans like Gomez or Denard Span.
