Seattle Mariners eyeing Melky Cabrera

After trading outfielder Michael Saunders earlier this week, general manager Jack Zduriencik stated the club's desire to add either a right-handed or switch-hitting outfielder. (Tacoma News Tribune)

Fantasy Impact:

Melky Cabrera would presumably slot into the two-hole for the Seattle Mariners. Cabrera is an all-around fantasy contributor, with a strong ability to make contact and hit for average, mixed with slightly above-average power. A full repeat of his 2014 batting line is well within reach. A potential move from The Roger Centre to Safeco Field could worry some, however, Melky did not display any split between home and away performance in 2014 (.807 OPS at home - .810 OPS on the road). With the recent addition of free-agent Nelson Cruz, along with last year's acquisitions, Austin Jackson and Robinson Cano, the top of the Mariner's lineup would be one of the best in the American League.
