According to Jerry Crasnick, the Seattle Mariners have acquired outfielder Seth Smith from the San Diego Padres in exchange for relief pitcher, Brandon Maurer. (Twitter)
Fantasy Impact:
The acquisition of Seth Smith will provide the Seattle Mariners with a possible platoon partner for recently acquired Justin Ruggiano. With Smith being the left-handed batter, his playing time projection will be more favorable. The move to Seattle should not have a big impact on Smith's production, as Petco Park and Safeco Field had relatively similar park factors last season. Fantasy owners in deeper leagues with daily transactions will want to target Smith as a 4th or 5th outfield option for next season. Double-digit home runs with 100 +/- runs+RBI should be expected.
