Braden Shipley reassigned to minor league camp

by Tony Pontecorvo | Sun, Mar 15th 1:31pm EDT

Braden Shipley, the Diamondbacks' 2013 1st-round pick and a top-40 (#19, Keith Law; #40 MLB.com) prospect, has been reassigned a few hundred yards to the team's minor league camp. Shipley appeared in two games in his first taste of big league camp, giving up one run in four innings. Shipley struck out 127 batters in 126 innings pitched across three levels in 2014, pitching to a 3.86 ERA. (@dbacks)

Fantasy Impact:

Either the #1 or #2 pitching prospect for Arizona (along with the somewhat more well-known Archie Bradley) according to most lists, Shipley, who just turned 23, was a long-shot to make the club out of spring training. He did nothing during his brief time in major league camp to sour future expectations, though and should still be targeted in dynasty drafts as a future #2 (upside) - #3 (likely) starter.
