Dwight Smith Jr. was designated for assignment by the Orioles on Saturday. Outfielder Mason Williams was called up in a corresponding move.

Smith Jr. was getting everyday starts in left field, but was striking out at a 26.4% clip and was hitting 21% below the league average. He is likely to latch on to another team at some point in 2021, if not sooner.
