Taylor Widener issues five free passes in victory

by Jon Mathisen | Braves Correspondent | Mon, Aug 23rd 12:19pm EDT

RHP Taylor Widener earned the win on Sunday when he allowed just one run on one hit with five walks and five strikeouts over five innings as the D-Backs beat the Rockies 8-4.

Fantasy Impact:

Widener did a fine job limiting the damage on Sunday despite surrendering five free passes. He hit Connor Joe with a pitch in the first inning and he came around to score via a Ryan McMahon double but that was the only run allowed. Widener only fired off 78 pitches but he was done after five innings, which was good enough to give him the win. He'll carry a 4.34 ERA, 1.38 WHIP, and 60:29 K/BB ratio over 56 innings (12 starts) into his next turn against the Phillies.
