Wednesday against the Twins, Alexi Ogando was called upon in the eighth inning to close out Boston's 6-1 lead. He allowed two hits in the eighth and a walk and a home run in the ninth which brought the score to 6-3. Ogando did eventually close out the game helping Eduardo Rodriguez earn his second win in as many tries.
Manager John Farrell's use of Ogando in medium to high leverage situations could result in a decent number of holds for the 31 year-old swing man over the course of the season. However, considering that he has allowed five earned runs in his last seven innings, Ogando may not see the same type of opportunities. Whatever stats you might be looking for out of Ogando there are definitely better options to be had elsewhere.
