Ryan Thompson secures win against Boston

by Andersen Pickard | Diamondbacks Correspondent | Wed, Jul 6th 8:48am EDT

Rays reliever Ryan Thompson allowed two hits but didn't surrender a run while pitching the fifth inning of Sunday's game against the Red Sox. He struck out one batter and even managed to earn the win in the process. Tampa Bay ultimately defeated Boston by a score of 8-4.

Fantasy Impact:

Thompson is now 2-2 with a 5.13 ERA, 1.44 WHIP, and .255 OBA through 26 1/3 innings out of the bullpen this season. He has also posted 7.86 K/9, 3.42 BB/9, and five holds while going 3-for-8 in save situations. After a tough start to the season, Thompson has gotten back under control, allowing zero earned runs over his last 6 1/3 innings and just two runs through 9 1/3 frames since the beginning of June. He should still be left on waivers in all fantasy leagues.
