Carlos Correa agrees to 12-year deal with Mets

by Chris Schommer | Astros Correspondent | Wed, Dec 21st 5:47am EST

Shortstop Carlos Correa and the New York Mets have agreed to a 12-year, $315 million contract, according to a report by Jon Heyman. (Jon Heyman on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact:

In a stunning turn of events, Correa now ends up in New York after a medical issue arose and his 13-year, $350 million deal with the San Francisco Giants fell through Tuesday. With Francisco Lindor firmly entrenched at shortstop for the Mets, Correa will take over the starting third base role for a club using every possible financial resource for a deep postseason run in 2023. The 28-year-old finished 2022 batting .291 with 22 home runs, 52 runs scored, and 68 runs batted in and should flourish in a lineup featuring Lindor and slugger Pete Alonso.
