Yuli Gurriel seeking $3 million in free agency

by Brenton Kemp | Marlins Correspondent | Fri, Feb 3rd 2:39pm EST

Free agent Yuli Gurriel is seeking $3 million on his next contract. (Jon Heyman at the New York Post)

Fantasy Impact:

Unfortunately for Gurriel, he hit free agency one year too late. After leading the American League with a .319 batting average as part of a 132 wRC+ in the 2021 season, Gurriel hit just .242 with an 85 wRC+ in the 2022 campaign. With the Astros signing Jose Abreu this winter, a reunion in Houston seems unlikely for the 38-year-old. A .284 lifetime hitter in the big leagues, Gurriel should be able to find a landing spot even if it doesn't match his asking price.
