Gomes didn't appear in Wednesday's game against the A's and will begin Thursday's contest on the bench again. The veteran is off to a solid start as he's hit three homers and driven in eight runs along with a steal in 11 games. Tucker Barnhart will start for the second straight day behind the plate Thursday.
