Matt Vierling connects for home run Wednesday night

by Brenton Kemp | Tigers Correspondent | Wed, May 3rd 9:40pm EDT

Detroit Tigers outfielder Matt Vierling hit a solo home run in the second half of a doubleheader against the Mets on Wednesday night.

Fantasy Impact:

Vierling was part of the Tigers' onslaught of Max Scherzer in his return from suspension as the 26-year-old hit his second home run of the season deep into the left-center field bullpen. Vierling began his day with a single, a stolen base, and a run scored as the leadoff man in game one of the twin bill but powered up in the second half. Acquired via trade from the Phillies this winter, Vierling is up to a .281 average with two homers, four stolen bases, and a .749 OPS across 96 trips to the plate with his new club.
