Jose Ramirez heads to bereavement list

Ramirez can miss up to seven days on the bereavement list while 22-year-old shortstop Brayan Rocchio was recalled from the minors in a corresponding move prior to the Guardians' series opener with the White Sox on Tuesday. The 30-year-old is having a down season by his lost standards as he's hitting .284 with four homers, five stolen bases, and an .821 OPS across 40 games. If the season ended today, his 114 wRC+ would be his second-worst figure since the 2016 season.
