Esteury Ruiz (knee/wrist) returns to action in spring debut

Esteury Ruiz is starting in left field and batting sixth in the Athletics' first spring training game Saturday versus San Diego.

Ruiz ended the 2024 season on the 60-day IL with a left wrist strain and also underwent arthroscopic knee surgery in September, but he appears fully recovered. The 26-year-old speedster is looking to rebound after a lost season in which he played just 45 total games between the majors and minors. Despite his elite speed, Ruiz may need a strong spring to secure a spot on the Athletics' Opening Day roster, making him a name to watch in deeper fantasy leagues.
