A.J. Minter optimistic about velocity returning after hip surgery

Mets reliever A.J. Minter believes he can regain his peak velocity following hip surgery last August, per Tim Britton of The Athletic.
Fantasy Impact:
Minter saw a steady decline in his fastball velocity over the past two seasons, dropping from a career-high 96.7 mph in 2022 to just 94.6 mph in 2024. That dip coincided with a drop in strikeout rate from 34.7% to 26.1%. The left-hander credits biomechanical adjustments for helping him rediscover his lower-body mechanics, which he believes will restore his velocity. While the Mets are easing him into action this spring, Minter is expected to be a key piece of the bullpen early in the season, potentially even by Opening Day.
