Rafael Devers open to DH role for Red Sox

Rafael Devers (shoulders) said Thursday that he is willing to serve as the Red Sox's designated hitter if that’s where the team wants to use him, Jen McCaffrey of The Athletic reports. (Jen McCaffrey)

Fantasy Impact:

Devers' stance marks a shift from his comments in mid-February, when he expressed a strong preference to remain at third base. After discussions with manager Alex Cora and chief baseball officer Craig Breslow, the 28-year-old now appears open to a DH role, with Alex Bregman likely to handle third base duties. Devers showed no issues at the plate Thursday, homering in a simulated game, and is expected to make his Grapefruit League debut Saturday.
