Manager Aaron Boone said Wednesday that he hopes to have Paul Goldschmidt back in the lineup Friday against the Detroit Tigers. (Gary Phillips on Twitter)

Goldschmidt will go through baseball activities on Thursday, and if he has no setbacks, he should be ready to play Friday. The 37-year-old is having a fantastic spring, slashing .313/.389/.688 in 36 plate appearances.
