Roki Sasaki working on fastball velocity
by Bruno Mulé | Dodgers Correspondent | Tue, May 13th 1:37pm EDT
The Los Angeles Dodgers are working with Roki Sasaki to address a decline in his fastball velocity. Sasaki, who reached triple digits in a March 19 start in Tokyo, has reportedly not hit 99 mph in the United States and has seen his velocity dip to 92-93 mph in recent outings. (Jack Harris)
Fantasy Impact:
Pitching coach Mark Prior acknowledged, "It's not an ideal situation," adding that "the fastball is not gonna carry through the zone at 93 very effectively." Prior also stated there are delivery issues to fix, which could be a potential cause of Sasaki's 14.3 percent walk rate. Sasaki is confirmed to start Thursday at home against the Athletics.
