Higashioka last appeared in an MLB game on April 29 before being sidelined by a mild left intercostal strain. He played in two rehab games with Triple-A Round Rock, going 2-for-8 with a pair of doubles. Earning consistent playing time may be challenging, as the Rangers currently carry three catchers on the roster: Higashioka, Tucker Barnhart and Jonah Heim.
