Athletics manager Mark Kotsay stated that the decision to remove Wilson from the lineup was precautionary, as the team is currently on the 15th day of a grueling 16-game stretch. Wilson does not appear to be in danger of missing significant time. Max Schuemann will take his place at shortstop, and is expected to fill in if Wilson misses additional time.
