Merrill Kelly strikes out seven but takes loss

Merrill Kelly (6-3) was tagged with the loss Sunday versus the Padres, allowing four runs on seven hits and a walk over five innings. The right-hander recorded seven strikeouts. Most of the damage came in the fourth inning, when he gave up three runs, including a two-run homer to Jake Cronenworth.
Fantasy Impact:
Kelly has recorded at least six strikeouts in eight straight starts, but Sunday was the third time in that span he has allowed four or more runs. Through 87 innings this season (15 starts), he has a 3.41 ERA, 1.02 WHIP, and an 86:22 K:BB ratio. His next outing is projected to be in Colorado; he threw seven one-hit, 11-strikeout innings against the Rockies in a home start May 18.
