Peters takes the roster spot of infielder Taylor Walls, who was placed on the 10-day injured list with a groin injury on Tuesday. The 25-year-old has made just nine plate appearances with the Rays this season and has hit .282 with 11 homers, 11 stolen bases, and an .823 OPS with Durham this season.
