The Boston Red Sox placed Brennan Bernardino on the 15-day injured list on Friday with a left lat strain, retroactive to September 10. (Boston Red Sox on Twitter)

Bernardino last pitched on September 6, allowing just one hit over 1.1 innings. It is unclear whether he will be able to return before the conclusion of the regular season. In a corresponding move, Chris Murphy was recalled from Triple-A to take his spot in the bullpen.
