Sonny Gray dealt to Red Sox

Trade rumors have swirled around Gray going back into this past season. The veteran righty has agreed to waive his no-trade clause to join the Red Sox, with the Cardinals receiving a pair of young pitchers in return. Gray won 14 games while posting a 4.28 ERA with 201 strikeouts acorss 180 2/3 innings in 2025. Richard Fitts and Brandon Clarke will head to St. Louis. Fitts appeared in 11 games (10 starts) for the Red Sox in 2025, turning in a 5.00 ERA and 40-16 K/BB over 45 innings. Clarke has yet to pitch above High-A ball, but the lefty was the Red Sox No. 5 prospect (MLB.com) at the time of the trade.
