Rodgers (shoulder) has previously had major surgery performed on both shoulders. He suffered a right shoulder injury during Wednesday's Grapefruit League contest against Minnesota when he extended for a ball after diving at second base. (Tim Healey)

Initial strength evaluations returned positive results. Persistent soreness on Thursday led manager Alex Cora to schedule an MRI for imaging. Rodgers is vying for a bench spot with Boston.
