Cristian Hernandez has been traded to the Miami Marlins as part of a three-player package that sends Edward Cabrera to the Chicago Cubs. Owen Caissie and Edgardo De Leon were also sent to Miami. (Bob Nightengale on X)
Fantasy Impact:
Hernandez, who just turned 22 last month, is a speedy middle infielder ranked as the 16th-best prospect in the Cubs' organization entering the 2026 season by Baseball America. Hernandez played at High-A South Bend in 2025 and batted .252 with 52 stolen bases in 61 chances. He also hit a career-best seven home runs. While he won't make an immediate impact on the Marlins' big league roster for at least a couple of years, he projects to be a starting-caliber shortstop and is a solid young talent to add to the organization.
