Wade Meckler claimed off waivers by Angels

Fantasy Impact:
Meckler, an eighth-round pick by the Giants out of Oregon State in 2022, is a prototypical contact hitter. He made the climb all the way to San Francisco in 2023 and hit .232 in 20 games with the Giants that season. However, he has not played in the majors since. Meckler slashes .315/.410/.439 in 1,157 plate appearances in the minors. He has hit only 17 career home runs but has a 13.1% walk rate and just a 16.7% strikeout rate. Meckler is projected to battle for a spot on the Angels' opening day roster and, at the very least, would open the season in Triple-A.
