Gavin Sheets and the San Diego Padres avoided arbitration as the two sides agreed on a deal. The contract is reportedly worth $4.5 million in 2026. (San Diego Padres on X)
Fantasy Impact:
Sheets enjoyed his best season at the major league level in 2025, posting career bests in nearly every offensive category. In his first season in San Diego, Sheets batted .252 with 19 home runs and 71 RBI in 145 games. He has played five seasons at the big league level - the first four with the Chicago White Sox. Sheets can play first base and the outfield but, given the Padres' current roster, he will likely open the season as the team's primary DH and hit towards the middle of the lineup.
