Omar Cruz has signed a minor league contract with the San Diego Padres. The deal presumably includes an invite to spring training. (MLB Trade Rumors on X)
Fantasy Impact:
Cruz made his major league debut last season with the Padres, appearing in two games with San Diego. He allowed two runs on four hits with three walks and five strikeouts in 3.2 innings. The 27-year-old righthander has pitched seven seasons in the minors, both as a starter and as a reliever, and has a 3.80 ERA with 552 strikeouts in 478 innings. Cruz will try to earn a bullpen spot with the Padres during spring, but most likely will head to Triple-A El Paso to start the season.
