Jakob Junis signs one-year deal with Rangers

Jakob Junis has signed a one-year contract with the Texas Rangers that also includes a mutual option for 2027. The deal will become official once the Rangers make a corresponding move to clear a space on the 40-man roster. (Ken Rosenthal on X)

Junis is coming off of his first-career bullpen-only season as a member of the Guardians and the righthander went 4-1 with a 2.97 ERA in 66.2 innings. Junis has pitched nine seasons at the big league level with the Royals, Giants, Brewers, Reds, and Guardians and has a career ERA of 4.36 in 847 innings. Junis, who has an ERA of 4.53 as a starter (116 games) and 3.87 as a reliever (133 games) in his career, is expected to be used as a middle reliever by the Rangers in 2026.
