J.P. France designated for assignment by Astros

J.P. France has been designated for assignment by the Houston Astros. The move was made to make room for newly-acquired Kai-Wei Teng on the 40-man roster. (Chandler Rome on X)

Fantasy Impact:

France unexpectedly won 11 games and posted a 3.83 ERA in 23 starts with the Astros as a 28-year-old rookie in 2023. However, the last two seasons have not been kind to the righthander as he was limited to just seven outings with Houston due, primarily, to injuries. France has posted good numbers in the minors, recording a 3.96 ERA in 109 games (63 starts) while striking out 478 batters in 393.1 innings. Teams looking for pitching depth could take a flier on a repeat of France's 2023 performance.
