Infielder Caleb Durbin has been traded from the Milwaukee Brewers to the Boston Red Sox, along with infielder Andruw Monasterio, catcher/infielder Anthony Seigler, and a Competitive Balance Round B pick. Heading to Milwaukee are infielder David Hamilton and left-handed pitchers Kyle Harrison and Shane Drohan. (Will Sammon on X)
Fantasy Impact:
Durbin is the headliner of the package going to Boston as the Red Sox get an infielder they have been looking for this offseason. The 26-year-old finished third in the NL Rookie of the Year voting last season as he batted .256 with 11 home runs, 53 RBI, and 18 stolen bases in 136 games with the Brewers. Durbin has excellent plate discipline, striking out 50 times in 506 plate appearances with the Brewers and just 116 times across nearly 1,300 plate appearances in the minors. He played most of his games last season at third base, but does have second base eligibility and, potentially, could be used there more often in Boston. Regardless of position, Durbin should hold an everyday spot in the Red Sox lineup.
