David Hamilton heads to Milwaukee in six-player trade

by David Leisering | Brewers Correspondent | Mon, Feb 9th 10:59am EST

Infielder David Hamilton has been traded from the Boston Red Sox to the Milwaukee Brewers, along with lefthanders Kyle Harrison and Shane Drohan. The Red Sox get infielders Caleb Durbin, Andruw Monasterio, and Anthony Seigler. Boston also receives a Competitive Balance Round B pick. (Will Sammon on X)

Fantasy Impact:

Hamilton, who can play both second base and shortstop, has excellent speed and a good glove. However, the bat has not been consistent enough to merit more playing time. In 550 career plate appearances in three seasons with Boston, Hamilton has slashed .222/.283/.359, but does have 57 stolen bases in 204 games. Brice Turang has second base locked down in Milwaukee, so the path to a starting role could be at shortstop. At the very least, he should open the season with the Brewers in a bench role.
