Gio Urshela signs minor league deal with Twins

Gio Urshela has signed a minor league contract with the Minnesota Twins. He was released by the Athletics in August. (Aaron Gleeman on X)

Urshela has played parts of ten seasons at the big league level and played for the Twins in 2022, batting .285 with 13 home runs and 64 RBI in a career-high 144 games with Minnesota. However, in his last three seasons, Urshela has combined for a .260 average with 11 home runs in 886 plate appearances with the Angels, Tigers, Braves, and Athletics. Urshela will provide depth and insurance for the oft-injured Royce Lewis at third base.
