Fantasy Baseball Two-Start Pitchers: Rankings & Pickups (Week 15)

Fantasy Baseball Two-Start Pitchers: Rankings & Pickups (Week 15)

You should be grinding fantasy baseball two-start pitchers to give you an advantage over your competition.

Each week, I will be giving you a breakdown of the two-start options for your fantasy leagues, broken up into the following tiers:

  • Must Start: Pitchers you have to start because of their talent and/or matchups.
  • Should Start: Pitchers that are rostered in most formats and probably should be in your lineup.
  • Here We Go: Pitchers that you are probably starting in most formats, but have some level of risk to them.
  • Feeling Lucky: Pitchers that are risky, but viable in deeper formats.
  • Desperate Measures: Pitchers you shouldn’t use unless you have no other choice.

Make sure you are aware that when making fantasy baseball start or sit decisions, these projected two-start pitchers are subject to change.

Fantasy Baseball Two-Start Pitchers: Week 15

Let’s explore this week’s fantasy baseball two-start pitchers, ranging from must-start options to those you should probably avoid.

Must Start

Should Start

Ian Seymour (SP, RP – TBR) vs. NYY, vs. SEA

Ian Seymour has finally transitioned into a full-time starter, and he has been elite over his last five outings. The stuff is really amazing, and he has good control. As long as the Rays let him go deep enough to qualify for a win, he should be in your lineup.

Jose Soriano (SP – LAA) at TEX, at MIN

Jose Soriano has regressed to the pitcher he was last season, negating some of his amazing work in the first month. These are fantastic matchups, so you are still using him here, but the selling point is now in trading leagues.

Freddy Peralta (SP – NYM) at ATL, vs. BOS

Freddy Peralta has been up and down this season, and a lot of it can be blamed on his lack of attacking the zone early in counts. The talent is still there, but there are definite game-plan and sequencing issues. He has tough matchups this week, but he is too talented to sit.

Here We Go

Will Warren (SP – NYY) at TBR, at WSH

Will Warren has been good this season, throwing 89.1 innings with a 3.73 ERA and 91 strikeouts. There is always some blow-up potential, especially in tough road matchups, but he has been reliable and has a fairly safe floor.

Matthew Boyd (SP – CHC) at BAL, at CIN

Matthew Boyd has pitched well since returning from the injured list (IL). These aren’t the easiest matchups, but Boyd has a safe floor when he is on the mound and gets a ton of strong run support from the Cubs, so you are playing him in most spots.

Landen Roupp (SP – SFG) vs. TOR, vs. COL

Landen Roupp has good stuff but can struggle with control and command, which leads to blow-up outings. However, these two matchups are against very beatable offenses. If you can’t use Roupp here, then you never will.

Trevor McDonald (SP – SFG) vs. TOR, vs. COL

Similar to Landen Roupp, these matchups are just too good to pass up. Trevor McDonald isn’t a special pitcher, but a back-end-of-the-rotation innings eater. With two good matchups at home, you can stream him in a lot of formats to try and sneak a win or two.

Joey Cantillo (SP – CLE) at MIN, at MIA

Since making pitch mix changes over his last five starts, Joey Cantillo has been a better pitcher with an added offering. He has a great matchup to start the week and a decent one at the end, so he is worth streaming in a lot of formats.

Feeling Lucky

Taj Bradley (SP – MIN) vs. CLE, vs. LAA

Taj Bradley has a ton of upside, but can struggle with command and control at times. These are two great matchups, though, so despite the volatility, you should gamble on his upside.

Walker Buehler (SP – SDP) vs. ARI, vs. TOR

Walker Buehler had been on a roll before getting absolutely destroyed by the Cubs in his last start. He isn’t an overpowering pitcher anymore, but these are two good matchups against a Diamondbacks team that struggles versus right-handed pitching and a Blue Jays team that has just been anemic offensively this season.

Andrew Abbott (SP – CIN) vs. PHI, vs. CHC

Andrew Abbott has been solid but unspectacular all season, posting a 3.88 ERA and 73 strikeouts in 95 innings. He has terrible underlying metrics, though, and is a blowup risk at home and in these tough matchups.
