Spencer Jones 'currently blocked' from playing time

New York Yankees general manager and senior vice president Brian Cashman said Spencer Jones could compete for a starting role elsewhere but is "currently blocked with us." (New York Daily News)
Fantasy Impact:
Jones has yet to see big league action despite posting a .271/.349/.490 slash line over his minor league career. He had a strong 2025 season, hitting .274/.362/.571 with 35 home runs in 116 games. The Yankees have Giancarlo Stanton as their designated hitter and Aaron Judge, Cody Bellinger and Trent Grisham in the outfield. Cashman also noted that Jason Dominguez, who has struggled to find consistent playing time himself, is ahead of Jones on the Yankees’ depth chart. While Cashman believes Jones could compete for an everyday role elsewhere during camp, he is “currently blocked.” As a result, Jones will likely begin the season in the minors.
