Matt Svanson in Cardinals closer mix
by Bruno Mulé | Cardinals Correspondent | Tue, Mar 10th 2:30pm EDT
Svanson turned in a 1.05 ERA with a 44:12 K:BB ratio across 34.1 innings in the second half of last season, and St. Louis is counting him among the candidates to handle save situations in 2026. Riley O'Brien, JoJo Romero, and Ryne Stanek are also in contention for ninth-inning work. (Derrick Goold)
Fantasy Impact:
Svanson didn't record a save during his rookie campaign, so closing games would be new territory. Manager Oliver Marmol has no plans to designate a closer before the season, expecting the situation to "solve itself" as the year progresses.
