Ben Williamson turning heads with bat and glove in Rays camp
by Bruno Mulé | Rays Correspondent | Tue, Mar 17th 10:23am EDT
Acquired from Seattle this offseason, Williamson is hitting .375 with two home runs, two steals and a 5:4 K:BB across 36 spring plate appearances while showing the ability to handle both second base and shortstop. Manager Kevin Cash has taken notice. "The bat has really come to life," Cash said. "He's a big, strong guy and the power has kind of showed up here. He's had some big at-bats and drives the ball well, so it looks like he can really help us."
Fantasy Impact:
Williamson is expected to see time against left-handed pitching, but his strong spring and defensive versatility have opened the door for at-bats against righties as well.
