Drew Smith released by Washington, free to sign elsewhere

Smith missed all of 2025 recovering from his second Tommy John surgery and signed a minor-league deal with the Nationals in mid-February. He allowed two hits and two walks while striking out seven across 5.1 scoreless innings in six Grapefruit League appearances but was not on track to make the Opening Day roster.
