Mason McCoy optioned to Triple-A

by David Leisering | Padres Correspondent | Sat, Mar 21st 9:38pm EDT

Utility infielder Mason McCoy has been optioned to Triple-A El Paso by the San Diego Padres. (San Diego Padres on X)

Fantasy Impact:

McCoy struggled during the spring, batting just 6-for-39 (.154) in 18 games for the Padres. The 31-year-old has 84 plate appearances at the big league level and has slashed .181/.272/.222 with the Blue Jays and Padres. He has showcased a little pop and some speed in the minors as he was a 20-20 player at Triple-A Tacoma in the Mariners' organization in 2022. Primarily a shortstop, McCoy can also play second base or third base and his versatility could make him a favorite to be called up should San Diego run into injury issues.
