Reese McGuire, who recently opted out of camp in Milwaukee, has agreed to a one-year contract with the Chicago White Sox. The deal is worth $1.2 million. (Bruce Levine on X)
Fantasy Impact:
McGuire batted just 3-for-29 with the Brewers this spring and opted out of his minor league deal. The veteran catcher has played with four teams, including the White Sox, in eight seasons and is a career .248 hitter with 25 home runs in 399 major league games. He hit .225 in 53 games with the White Sox in 2022 and, most recently, batted .226 with a career-high nine home runs in 44 games with the Cubs last season. McGuire will likely serve as a veteran backup to Edgar Quero while Kyle Teel is on the shelf.
