Pereda has appeared in the majors in each of the last two seasons and has slashed .241/.299/.296 across 118 career plate appearances. The veteran catcher has played 779 games in the minors and has batted .263 with 33 home runs. The Mariners are going with Cal Raleigh and Mitch Garver behind the plate to start the year, so Pereda will split time at Triple-A with Andrew Knizner.
