Luis Garcia shifting to first base for Nationals in 2026

by Bruno Mulé | Nationals Correspondent | Tue, Mar 24th 1:09pm EDT

Garcia has just two games of big-league experience at first base but is expected to see most of his playing time there this season. The Nationals are hoping reduced defensive responsibilities will help his bat after he slashed .252/.289/.412 with 16 home runs and 14 steals across 139 games in 2025. (Jessica Camerato)

Fantasy Impact:

The move is part of a roster domino triggered by sending Dylan Crews and Robert Hassell to Triple-A, which put Daylen Lile in right field and opened regular DH at-bats for Andres Chaparro.
