Andres Chaparro set to open season as Nationals primary DH
by Bruno Mulé | Nationals Correspondent | Tue, Mar 24th 1:21pm EDT
Chaparro is expected to serve as Washington's primary designated hitter to begin 2026, with Luis Garcia shifting to first base and Daylen Lile taking over in right field. He has slashed .203/.268/.358 with five home runs across 205 plate appearances for the Nationals over the past two seasons and is hitting .154 with two home runs and a 6:12 BB:K across 39 spring plate appearances. Fantasy Impact:
Dylan Crews and Robert Hassell are both opening the year at Triple-A Rochester, and either could factor into the DH picture once they're ready for another big-league look.
